AI RAG Assistant brings Retrieval-Augmented Generation to Drupal sites through a flexible, developer-oriented module that integrates with the Drupal AI ecosystem. Where a standard language model answers questions from training data alone, a RAG-based assistant retrieves relevant content from your site or external sources first, then uses that context to generate accurate, grounded responses.

The module provides an AI-powered chatbot interface configurable through Drupal's admin UI. It supports both anonymous and authenticated users, integrates with Drupal's logging system for monitoring, and exposes its functionality through a clean API that developers can extend or integrate with other systems.

Use cases include knowledge bases where visitors can ask questions and receive answers drawn from published content, internal support assistants for authenticated staff, and content-driven AI experiences where the responses need to stay grounded in specific documentation or policies.

The module requires Drupal 10 or 11 and PHP 8.1+, and integrates with the broader Drupal AI module ecosystem. It is early-stage and not yet covered by the security advisory policy, but the RAG approach makes it significantly more useful for site-specific queries than a generic language model integration.
